GPS 3D Modeling and Machine Control
GSI Site Prep has bought numerous GPS system technologies, allowing the contractor and operator to more efficiently and accurately manage the pre-construction and construction phases in a project’s lifecycle. During pre-construction, AutoCAD engineering files are converted into 3D models of the project site, which are then used to accurately estimate material quantities and project costs. During construction, these 3D models are uploaded into the GPS Machine Controls on the earthmoving equipment, making for increased productivity by improving grading accuracy and eliminating mid-job survey crew.
Land grading is a huge part of GSI’s business, we reshape the natural ground surface to meet the proposed grades of the engineer. The purpose of grading is to provide suitable topography for the planned development, while aiding in the long term management of storm water runoff. This gives GSI the ability to control the pace of projects by delivering these materials as needed anywhere across the Virginia, Carolina’s, Tennessee, and Kentucky areas.

GSI Site Prep understands the importance of creating a stable and reliable foundation when building a road, one way to handle this is by using geotextile fabrics with the aggregate or granular base course to create an interlocking platform that enhances load distribution and reduces the stress applied to the subgrade. This process reduces undercut and aggregate requirements, resulting in reduced material and labor costs, and an increased service life of the road.
